Vignt En Un
Have you ever considered the origin of those games you play at the casinos? Do you know the reasons behind the ins and outs of the game? Well, to give you some table talk the next time you sit down to play a few hands, here is a bit of information on Blackjack you might not have known: Today, we know Vignt En Un as Blackjack. Historians collectively agree that Blackjack originated with French roots in the 17th century. Vignt En Un, in French, means 21 which is fitting for the game! Only a few rules had different variations way back when; however, the main goal of reaching 21 in the game has always remained frequent. When 21 was reached using a jack and ace of spades, a special payout was made. Hence the name Blackjack. While you are sitting at the Blackjack table, perhaps you can strike up conversation and mention that interesting tidbit! Labels: blackjack

Playing Blackjack- A Beginner's Guide
For those who have never played blackjack before here's a hint, it is one of the easiest games of all to learn. If you know how to count to 21 and do simple addition, you can play blackjack. The object of the game is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over. And that's the entire game in a nutshell. When you play blackjack, the dealer will deal you one card at a time. Look at the two cards and decide if the two cards that you have will afford you to accept another card without having risking going over 21. It's easy to add up the total points of your cards if you know that the value of the cards is the same as the number on the card. A 5 is worth 5 points, an 8 is worth 8 points, the face cards are worth 10 points. An ace is worth 11 points or 1 point whichever helps you out the most. Winning is simple. You simply need to get as close to 21 or at 21 as possible without going over. If you exceed 21, you lose and the dealer wins that hand. You can also win by having the same number of points as your dealer. Here are some basic phrases for playing blackjack that will let you look like a pro. If you want to leave the hand, tell the dealer, 'I’m out" or "I surrender" you can then leave the game with half your bet on the table instead of your whole wager. Want to look like a real gambler? Tell the dealer, "I'd like to double down" this will double your bet under the stipulation that you must win the hand after your next card is dealt to you. If you're feeling lucky, go for it! And those are the basics for playing blackjack, good luck. Labels: blackjack, blackjack-practice, cards

Learning More About Blackjack
Blackjack is a very simple card game that is fun and easy to learn. Playing blackjack is easy as you need only a way to place your wagers, a deck of cards and a place for your discards. Many people have used blackjack as a fund raiser as part of a casino night to benefit their charity or special cause. It's so easy to learn, most people catch on to how to play before the first hand is even over. All the you have to know to play a good game of blackjack is that the objective of the game of blackjack is to have a hand higher than the dealer but to also stay under 21. If your hand goes over 21 then you automatically lose that hand or "go bust". The game of blackjack is played with a standard deck of cards with jacks, queens, kings, and tens all being worth ten points. An ace can either be 11 points or 1 point, whichever number benefits you the most in the hand you use it in, once you choose the numerical amount for an ace in that hand, you can not change it if a "one" point card will suddenly benefit you more than the "eleven" point card you chose your ace originally to be. To play you are dealt a card by the dealer. You can then ask the dealer for as many cards as you think you will need, one at a time. If you reach 21 with the first two cards dealt to you it is called a natural blackjack and you win that hand without any further cards being dealt. You can get a natural blackjack by either getting an ace and any face card or a ten. Another thing to know about the game of blackjack, if you have the same number of points or more points than the dealer without going over 21 then you win that hand! See? Now you know why the game of blackjack has stayed so popular over the years. Labels: blackjack, blackjack-practice, gift-ideas

Blackjack Made Easy!
If you're a frequent reader of this blog, poker poker poker may be all you think we write about; and yes we love poker but there are other games that are just as fun. Blackjack for example is a blast. If you have never played the game before and you're interested in learning - read on- it's easy! One of the first terms a blackjack player should to know is "going bust". This means that your hand is over 21 and you automatically lose that round. Going bust is exactly what you do not want to do when you play the game. If you say "surrender" or "I'm out" it means that you forfeit the hand because you are unhappy with the cards that you have been dealt on that particular hand. Certain casinos will return a minimum portion of your wager if you don't like the hand you've been dealt but many places will simply take your money and ask if you'd like another hand. When you get dealt a good hand and you're feeling lucky about the next card to be dealt, tell the dealer you'd like to "Double Down". Doing so will double your original blackjack bet under the terms that you win with the next card dealt to you in this round. If you don't win, you lose. Another good term to know is "Split Pairs". This means that you have been dealt two cards and they have the same face value. Such as two eights or two tens. You can split them up to give you two separate hands to play. This will increase your odds of making blackjack and winning that hand. Knowing when to use the right terminology will help you look like a pro the next time you play blackjack. If you would like to host your own game in your own home, get a blackjack set and have a professional set up. Your friends will think you've been sneaking off to Vegas on a regular basis and learned to play blackjack like a pro! Labels: blackjack, blackjack-practice, gift-ideas

Getting Ideas to Make Over Your Game Room
Whether you've suddenly acquired an extra room in your home from a kiddo that's grown up and gone to college or you just have a game room area you haven't done anything with; the most daunting part of making over a room to be a total fun room is just getting ideas. A great place to start looking for ideas is right here on your computer screen. It's convenient and you can do it anytime you like. Go to Google or your favorite search engine and go to "Image" then type in "game room" in quotes - it will narrow down your search and look at the images that come up. You can also use the search term "game room decor" if you so choose to narrow down your search even further. Also check out magazines. Again, you can do this search on your computer. Go to the websites of some of your favorite fashion and lifestyle magazines and you will find most have a search function. Use it and search using the parenthesis method above to narrow your results to actual games instead of articles about "Games Men Play". Consider elements for your game room such as : Do you want a bar? Do you want a foosball table? Do you want a full blown poker table or a simple table topper? Also consider the colors. Darker colors usually meld well into any game room decor. Darker colored table toppers or poker tables, black dart boards and dark, elegant draperies will give your room an air of class without making it boring or staid. Use these tips and get the game room you've always wanted. Start looking around now for inspiration! Fun Decor Ideas for Your Game Room
Ready to give your game room a new look for 2008, but you don't want to spend a ton of money and you don't have a lot of time? It's still very possible! First of all, get rid of the clutter. Adopt the attitude of "A place for everything and everything in its place" for your game room and you'll find the room automatically seems a lot larger. Then go through the items that are already out and determine if you really need them. A simple shelf or two on your walls is a great way to ensure that you have the items out that you want and yet they won't be cluttering up table tops and other areas. Then look towards your walls. A game room is for, well having fun and your wall decor should reflect just that sentiment. This is the one room in your home that kitschy, silly, light hearted and whimsical is the rule of the day. Get rid of your fine art prints on the walls and relegate them to other areas of your home where they will be more appreciated. Antique bar art, signs, posters either antique or modern in slick black frames are all economical as well as lending an air of fun to your room. A fun sign with a witty saying will set the tone for your game room. If you haven't already invested in a cabinet or armoire to stash away your television and/or stereo equipment it's a great idea and will keep the lines of your room sleek and clutter-free until you're ready to invite everyone over to watch a game on television or listen to tunes while you play the night away at a game of poker. Use these simple tips and rev up the style in your game room for 2008 and make it a room that is full of fun! Learn the Inside Secrets for Winning at Blackjack
Blackjack originated in France as early as the seventeenth century and was originally called “vingt-et-un” which translates into English as 21. Blackjack has also been called 21, pontoon, and California aces. In the original French version of the game a player could win by drawing a jack of spades followed by an ace of spades. This is how the term blackjack was created to describe this card game. Blackjack came to the United Sates following the French revolution and quickly became a very popular game in casinos. Players quickly realized that through gambling they could play the odds and manipulate blackjack hands. In the early 1900's gambling was outlawed in the states and had to go underground. At this time the game became associated with organized crime. Blackjack is easy to learn and seems deceptively simple. That's where knowing the inside tricks for winning this game will come in handy. Learn what your casino dealer knows about Blackjack and learn to bet smart. John Patrick's Play Like The Pros: Learn To Win At Blackjack DVD is a great way to pick up those tips and learn to be a winner at one of your favorite casino games. All I Want for Christmas
Don’t you wish there was some way to tell the people you know what kind or types of gifts that you really want for your birthday or Christmas? All without just coming right out and telling them? Well you could always write a letter to Santa and if that doesn’t work start dropping hints earlier next year. There are all sorts of ways to get the message across, perhaps you are at a casino night somewhere and you casually mention how much fun it could be to have your own Roulette Set. Or at the next poker game you can point out how quickly cards can become worn and how chips can get lost or damaged. Or the next time you are out with friends at a pub you can say something like I have always wanted a dartboard at home. Or pointing something out and saying that is a great idea for a gift. Or perhaps the next time you purchase a gift for someone and they have opened it, tell them they almost didn’t get it because you thought about keeping it for yourself. Ok, if it is a big purchase, perhaps furniture, etc. and you really need to talk your spouse into it, then you will probably need to enlist some help from everyone you know. Perhaps you will be able to bribe them into helping you by offering use of whatever it is you want. If all else fails just do what the kids do, open your eyes real wide and get that pitiful look going and ask “it followed me home, can I keep it?” Labels: blackjack, blackjack-practice, card-shuffle, cards, gift-ideas, jack-daniels, music, poker, poker-party, poker-practice, roulette, slot-machines, texas-holdem

Have a Special Gathering or Raise Money with Casino Night!
Have you ever been to a casino night? Sometimes they are used as a way to raise money for a charity or money for a school. They usually involve games like craps, roulette and poker. Sometimes they include things like a silent auction and door prizes. If you are in charge of an event that will be used in this way, or even if you know someone that might be interested in that kind of fund raiser, they can be a great deal of fun and the amount collected quite often exceeds expectations. It might even be a worthwhile project to suggest at the next PTA or club meeting. Many of the items needed to run this event can be rented or borrowed and some people may already have in their game room or home. If you are asked to help out it would be a good idea to ask around because you may be able to just borrow everything you need. If not, you may consider going ahead and outright purchasing some of the items that you will need and that way they will be readily available in case this turns into an annual event. Since poker tables can be expensive consider getting a few table tops or felt tops, they are just like the actual table look and feel of a casino at a fraction of the cost. And since the object is to raise money they can be a great way to go. If there are going to be “dealers” or “servers” perhaps everyone could wear card player caps or t-shirts. They are not that expensive and it can add a touch of realism to the night. Labels: blackjack, card-shuffle, cards, jack-daniels, poker, poker-party, roulette, slot-machines, texas-holdem

Raise Money With Your Own Casino Night
It really goes without saying, when there is a casino night in the works, people tend to pull out their wallets in the hopes that they will end up winning their fair share of the pot. Because of this effect that the game of poker as well as other casino related events have on attendees, you should find that this will be the perfect way to raise money for any kind of cause that you may be looking to support. Perhaps you have a close friend or a relative that is in need of some sort of medical procedure and they could use some help to cover the finances. You might even find that there is a need to purchase something for the local school in your area or the kids in your neighborhood could use a bit of an upgrade to their playground. These, along with many others, are perfect reasons to have your very own casino night to try and help raise money. Gather up your supplies and see if your friends and neighbors happen to have any poker accessories that you can borrow as well. You are going to need a series of games, a couple of decks of cards and certainly some chips to get the festivities started. Such an event can be set up in your home if you happen to have the room or you can even try and rent out a hall in your local area or see if the school will let you use their gymnasium. Once you have the wheels set in motion, you will be on your way to a great casino night filled with fun and monies being raised for your chosen cause. Organizing a Poker Night
Poker nights are fun and relaxing, a great way to kick back with some friends and have a good time. It's also a good way to regularly keep in touch with friends when life can sometimes be so busy that we forget to keep in touch. Even if you don't play for actual money, poker is always a fun way to pass the time. Decide first how many people will be invited. You will want to be certain that you have enough chips for everyone that will be attending. Good quality chips are the best way to go. They feel good in your hands, and will hold up to lots of use. It's usually customary to use a fresh deck of cards for each night as well. You don’t want to be dealing with any old decks that might be missing cards, or which might have bent or damaged cards. Next decide which drinks and snacks you will be providing. If your poker night will be a regular event, it is a good idea to rotate who brings what. If one person shells out the cash for beer one night, and another simply brings chips and dip, it wouldn't be fair to expect them to do the same every time you get together. There is of course, always they "BYOB" setup as well. Make sure that the rules of your house, such as rules regarding smoking and drinking, are clearly communicated before hand. Make sure to clear out a comfortable area for you and your guests to play. The ESPN 84x42 Texas Hold'Em Poker Padded Folding Table would be a great choice. This gives the game a fun professional feel, and it's comfortable with its padded edges. This table can accommodate up to 10 people. Beginning Blackjack Without Looking Like a Newbie
If you're a beginner in the game of blackjack but you don't want to give away the fact you're new to the game with a bumbling error; knowing some buzz words will help you look more professional and give the people you're playing with a feeling, you're no newbie to the game.
