Poker News : Pros and Celebs Meet at Caesar's Palace
This Wednesday, 64 poker pros and celebrities met at the famed Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas for NBC's 2008 National Heads Up Poker Championship.
This is the fourth straight year that this event has occurred and is called NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
The player pairings scheduled went on today and the one-on-one bracket-based competition continues through March 2nd, when a two-out-of-three championship match will determine the tournament winner with stated earnings of $500,000 in prize money at stake.
As in the previous three tourney's, the Caesar's Palace Poker Tournament Room will serve as the backdrop for the both newbie and returning celebrity poker players and that list includes: Jason Alexander, Gabe
Kaplan, Don Cheadle, Jennifer Tilly, Shannon Elizabeth, and Orel Hershiser, who will square off with the likes of defending NBC National Heads Up Poker champions Paul Wasicka (2007), Ted Forrest (2006), and Phil Hellmuth (2005).There are 17 new players making a debut in this event and the tournament promises to be filled with intense competition as both established and rising stars compete with seasoned poker players for the championship. The competition is being taped for the next week and will be broadcast on NBC over six consecutive Sundays beginning April 13, 2008.
